How do I copy a block from one file to another?

The tool dmappend can append an extension (block) from one file to another existing file. In this example, the BKGREG block, which is part of the input file, is appended to output.fits:

unix% dmappend acisf00021_000N001_r0001_reg3.fits"[BKGREG]" output.fits
