CIAO 4.18 can be installed as a set of binary packages for recent Linux or macOS systems in one of three ways:

Using the ciao-install script, as described on the Install CIAO using the ciao-install script page.

Using a .dmg diskimage file, which is for macOS only.

Using the conda package manager.
The CIAO download, System Requirements, and Platform Support pages provide information on the different installation options and on what systems CIAO is tested and supported.
CIAO is also available as source code, which can be compiled on your system. Please note that due to some of the required packages, compilation is not straightforward and there is no support for compilation on unsupported systems (such as NetBSD or Windows SubSystem for Linux). CIAO is not supported on Windows.
