OP03 Procedures op03:

HRC Contingency Procedures

Cal Source Fail Safe

Description:

This procedure is used to fire the HRC calibration source failsafe. The HRC door is positioned so that the cal source illuminates the detector so that actuation of the failsafe can be verified. The failsafe is actuated. Finally, the HRC door is returned to the open position.

Once this procedure is complete the instrument can be returned to normal operation.

Procedure Trigger:

This procedure is a measure of last resort. If, after using all possible combinations of power configuration, the cal source sticks in the exposed position and the Flight Director approves its use, the Flight Operations Team will execute this procedure with support from the Science Operations Team.
