               CHANDRA ELECTRONIC ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER 45

Item 1. Constellation-X Facility Science Team
=======================================================

Dear Colleagues:

In preparation for the upcoming 2010-2020 decadal survey, we are
re-structuring the science panels for the Constellation-X Facility
Science Team (FST). These FST Science Panels (listed below) form one
of the main channels for scientific input into the Constellation-X
mission. They are responsible for reviewing and refining the science
Con-X is designed to carry out, for carrying out simulations of the
relevant observations, and for writing white papers about this
science. The May 2005 'Science with Constellation-X' booklet was the
work of the FST Science Panels [see
http://constellation.gsfc.nasa.gov/documents/science/science_goals/sci_goals_bo
oklet_0505.pdf].
The chairs of these science panels, along with a few 'at large'
science representatives, make up the formal membership of the FST.
More information on Con-X can be found at conx.gsfc.nasa.gov.

If you are interested in joining one of the science panels listed
below please respond to Michael Garcia AND Ann Hornschemeier
(garcia@head.cfa.harvard.edu, Ann.Hornschemeier@nasa.gov) by November
30, with an indication of your choice of panels including a very brief
statement about your potential contribution to that panel. Panel
members should be designing observations which will answer pressing
questions in their field, if appropriate conducting simulations of
those observations using Con-X response matrices, and writing up the
results. After membership of the re-structured science panels has
been established we will select a chair for each panel. Chairs will
take the lead in coordinating white papers and providing additional
advice to the mission on that particular science area.

In addition to soliciting the widest possible participation from the
science community in the science panels, we plan to invite a few
scientists with detailed expertise in other missions to join specific
groups (e.g., where there are synergies with JWST, LISA and/or UV
spectroscopy). We welcome your suggestions about people you think
might fill these roles.

Thank you,

Harvey Tananbaum, Nick White, Michael Garcia, and Ann Hornschemeier
