Modeling the PRF Using MARX + SAOSAC

Our principal goal is to provide experimental constraints on the mirror and detector models. We do so by comparing MARX and SAOSAC models to several XRCF images of the core and wings of the HRMA+ACIS X-ray spot. After producing MARX (version 2.14) images with SAOSAC rayfiles with input parameters matching the XRCF tests in question (energy, X-ray flux, axial location, etc.), we analyzed the model and XRCF test data identically. The MARX data were processed using standard MARX analysis tools (e.g. pileup, marx2fits, etc.). We are, at present, unable to parse MARX events into ASCA grades, so instead we used AXAF flight event grades. The MARX CCD model does not yet simulate charge trailing due to finite readout time, and does not include a BI device. The SAOSAC model (version xrcf_xss_03) includes the effects of finite source distance, imperfect gravity offloading, and finite source size (for the PRF core tests only).
