Sep 11 Email ------------ As expected, the ACE P3 rates have climbed. They are now at 17,100. The GOES Proxy drop has become slightly shallower. As we are presently in the RAD Zone, ACIS is not collecting fluence. I expect the P3 rates to continue to increase. We exit the RAD zone tomorrow morning at 6:22am local. There is a Comm scheduled soon thereafter for 7:30am Local. The next Comm after that is 5:50pm local. Sep 12 Email Alert ------------------- A Radiation violation of GOES 13 P2 (4-9 MeV) has occurred indicating a possible EPHIN P4GM value of 1/3 the threshold. Value: 32.30 p/cm2-s-sr-MeV Limit: 30.00 Sep 12 Telecon Summary ----------------------- Telecon prior to 255:1130-1230z comm to discuss current radiation. ACE P3 rates high and projected to exceed a fluence of 2e9 prior to the afternoon comm. Arrival of second CME predicted for ~255:1300z. Given the radiation and available comm the decision was made to run SCS 107 to halt observing and safe the science instruments. SCS 107 was initiated via ground command at 255:11:51:18z and ran nominally. Have a clean-up action to disable SCS 29 via pre-approved CAP. An initial plan for science resumption is to uplink at the 256:1150-1250z pass and to incorporate ObsID 16511 to meet its window constraint. A discussion of the radiation environment will be held in conjunction wit the load review. Email announcing the time will be sent to sot_yellow_alert once the load review time is known.
