Email from Paul P. Plucinsky (May 24, 2013) --------------------------------------------- The ACE P3 two hour fluence alert was tripped. ACE P3 rates have spiked up to as high as 87,000 in the last two hours. The ACIS orbital fluence is at 7.0e8. At this rate, the orbital fluence will be larger than 1.0e9 by the time of the next COM at 5pm local time. There will be another radiation telecon at 5pm local time on the 11165 number (877-521-0441 pin 111165) to assess the situation at that time and decide if we need to shutdown. Chandra is currently executing OBSID 15648, the DDT TOO observation. This observation will be complete by the 5pm COM. There was a discussion amongst the MPers about quickly rebuilding loads in case we have to shut down at 5pm, to possibly uplink new loads at 7am tomorrow in order to get the Sgr A observation in. MP is exploring this possibility. Radiation Telecomp (May 24, 2013) --------------------------------- At an early acquired comm-pass we reviewed the current ACE P3 rates and determined that we should safe the SIs and attempt to resume observing at a comm-pass tomorrow morning (~7am EDT). SCS-107 was activated via ground command at ~2013:144:20:39z Replan products will be reviewed this evening and are expected to resume the as-laid-out schedule. Extra comm will be acquired to facilitate uplink of the loads based on a Go/No-Go telecon. Details of the Go/No-Go telecon are TBA. CAPs to disable SCS-29 and enable SCS-107 are required for clean-up.
