If CIAO is sourced and then FTOOLS is started in the same window, conflicts between the parameter tools may arise. This is due to the fact that a few FTOOLS and CIAO tools share the same name, and the FTOOLS parameter file is accessed instead of the CIAO version.

This problem is usually seen when running scripts that use pget to retrieve information from the header keywords, such as specextract.

To avoid this problem, make sure that you always start FTOOLS before starting CIAO if you must have them both running in the same terminal. The CIAO and FTOOLS section of the Starting CIAO thread has more information on this process.
