The GUIDE package assists with the identification of atomic lines in X-ray spectra and in the use of those lines to derive physical quantities, e.g. density, temperature, differential emission measure distributions.

GUIDE is intended for use within Sherpa; see the GUIDE: Fitting and Identifying Spectral Lines thread for an example. It links Sherpa results (stored in an MDL file) to the ATOMDB, enabling the identification of spectral lines, and the use of their properties in further fitting. GUIDE makes heavy use of S-Lang.
