ACIS: Advanced Camera for Imaging and Spectroscopy


CCD imaging detector on Chandra. (PI: G.Garmire, Penn State U., with the collaboration of MIT) Contains two arrays: a square for imaging (ACIS-I) and a narrower strip, primarily for readout of the diffraction gratings (ACIS-S), particularly the HETG.
