Abstract

We review the results from our first- and second-epoch observations of Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) and the Galactic Center with the imaging array of the Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) on-board the Chandra X-ray Observatory. Highlights of the observations include the discovery of a faint X-ray source coincident with the radio position of Sgr A* to within 1/3 arcsecond in the first-epoch observation and the discovery of rapid, large-amplitude X-ray flaring from the direction of Sgr A* in the second-epoch observation. The properties of the X-ray emission and the constraints placed on the black-hole accretion-disk emission models for Sgr A* will be discussed.
