Email: Radiation Telecon - Feb 10, 2024: 11:31 am --------------------------- At the day 41 03:30z comm (Friday night), SCS-107 was manually run in order to safe the science instruments in light of high GOES 3-11MeV radiation rates. These rates are used as a proxy for the HRC shield rates and indicated an expected background rate of over 250,000 cps which is above the design limit. The SCS ran nominally. The GOES rates had increased sharply earlier in the day, following an X3.3 flare on the western limb. The team met at 11 am EST Feb 10. At that time ACE P3 rates were still acceptable, GOES rates were too high to activate HRC, but were acceptable if HRC were left inactive. A weak but prolonged CME was expected to be impactful from about 1200z Sunday to ~1200z Monday. The plan is to restart the current load schedule at the 2024:042:02:20:00 Comm pass on DSS-54 *(9:20 PM SAT 10-Feb*). This will mean loads are expected to be out for review following the normal process a few hours from now.
