Feb 26 Email ------------ ACE P3 rates have remained between 20,000-50,000 since last comm. At present, it appears that the rates are holding relatively steady, although an inbound CME is likely to cause a further elevation in particle rates in another ~24 hours. The orbital fluence is presently ~1.7e9. The first opportunity for commanded shutdown is tonight's 10:30pm (ET) comm., with the next opportunity at 9:40am (ET) tomorrow morning. RADMON disable is Tuesday morning at 2:55am ET. If rates were to hold steady at 25,000, the projected fluence over the orbit would be 4.4e9. By tonight's comm, the expected fluence is 1.8e9 versus 2.8e9 for the morning's. The fluence saved by shutting down tonight is projected at ~2.6e9 over the remainder of the orbit before accounting for the potential impact of the CME. Feb 27 Shift Report -------------------- An M6 flare Saturday (25 Feb), led to elevated ACE rates throughout Sunday (26 Feb). Because of this SCS 107 was manually triggered Sunday night. Rates have now turned over. Solar activity is likely to be moderate with a slight chance for an X-class flare on days one, two, and three (27 Feb, 28 Feb, 01 Mar)
