CALDB PUBLIC RELEASE NOTES Version 1.3 CALDB Release Date: 2000-07-31T16:00:00 (which is 12:00EDT 7/31/00, Monday) CP Release Date: SAME AP Release Date: SAME This release is simultaneous with the software release R4CU5 UPD7. All processing with ASCDSVER = R4CU5UPD7 or LATER will use CALDBVER = 1.3 until further notice. CALDB version 1.4 is expected within the next 2 weeks. SUMMARY Version 1.3 of the Chandra CALDB includes the following updates: INSTRUME CCNAME FILENAME UPDATE TYPE PIPELINE/TOOL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ACIS BADPIX acisD1999-07-22badpixN0005.fits File update acis_build_badpix acisD1999-08-13badpixN0003.fits File update acis_build_badpix acisD1999-09-16badpixN0002.fits New file acis_build_badpix HRC FPTEST hrciD1999-07-22fptestN0003.fits File update hrc_process_events hrcsD1999-07-22fptestN0002.fits File update hrc_process_events SATTEST hrciD1999-07-22sattestN0002.fits File update hrc_process_events hrcsD1999-07-22sattestN0002.fits File update hrc_process_events TAPRINGTEST hrciD1999-07-22tapringN0001.fits New file hrc_process_events GMAP hrcsD1999-07-22gainN0001.fits New file hrc_process_events PCAD CCD_CHAR acapD1998-12-14ccdN0002.fits File update ASPECT Level 1 TEL AIMPTS telD1999-07-23aimptsN0001.fits New file PIXLIB Level 1 GEOM telD1999-07-23geomN0001.fits New file PIXLIB Level 1 SKY telD1999-07-23skyN0001.fits New file PIXLIB Level 1 TDET telD1999-07-23tdetN0001.fits New file PIXLIB Level 1 The PIXLIB files are expected to produce no change in processing, only to implement these values in the CALDB rather than in *.par files. The PCAD ccdchar file has a magnitude value change from 10.02 to 10.32. Not a critical update according to Tom Aldcroft, but we were able to install it in a timely fashion. The HRC-S GMAP should be helpful in reducing the HRC-S background considerbly in processing. FPTEST (Hyperbolic test) and SATTEST (Amp saturation test) changes indicate improvements in those event filtering tools. HRC Tapringtest ARD is necessary for a tool which helps correct for a hardware problem in the HRC where certain events are assigned the wrong positions. The ACIS badpix files for -110C and -100C include the node boundaries and edges as bad columns, which makes significant improvement in the processed images and the handling thereof. These mark the first time we've actually marked node boundaries and edges as bad in the pipeline processing as a matter of course.
