-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Item 1. Updated Observation Visualizer (ObsVis) Tool
=====================================================

ObsVis is a tool to aid in observation planning which allows the
inspection of sky images with overlaid instrument fields-of-view
(FoV). ObsVis interfaces with the SAOimage DS9 image display tool, and
facilitates detailed manipulation of Chandra pointing and instrument
parameters.

ObsVis was updated in Dec 2007 with the CIAO4.0 release.
With the latest release Feb 2008 (part of CIAO4.0.1), several minor bugs
were fixed, and features added. ObsVis can now display multiple
Chandra FoVs on a sky image, which can be grouped in a variety of
ways. ObsVis can also generate an evenly-spaced grid of pointings on
the sky. FoVs can be saved to a file for later reloading.

A quick ObsVis primer page is available at
     http://cxc.harvard.edu/obsvis/index.html
with a more detailed manual at
     http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/ahelp/obsvis.html

ObsVis runs either as a standalone package, or as part of CIAO.
The standalone package can be downloaded from
    http://cxc.harvard.edu/obsvis/download.html
If you already have CIAO 4.0 installed, you should download
the ObsVis 4.0.1 patch from the CIAO download page.
